Mi allontano dalla terra, dai luoghi ben conosciuti, dalle forme, dalla stesso impianto prospettico. Una voce mi insegue, forse la mia, forse quella di un paese. Arrivo in Burkina Faso, vago per le sue città, cerco di colmare il mio distacco dalle cose, dalla gente, di fermare i miei sensi, per vedere. Ma la rigidità delle differenze culturali e delle sue corruzioni, la sconosciuta schizzofrenia dei luoghi, mi imprigionano conducendomi ad uno stallo mentale che si trasforma in malattia, in allucinazione. Lentamente mi disintossico e accompagno Dario, uno dei miei compagni di percorso, in un villaggio del sud. Inizio ad aprire gli occhi e a rendermi conto di ciò che è celato in profondità, e nello stesso istante non vedo più l’uomo che mi sta davanti: le voci si confondono, le mie immagini si frantumano. La storia, la rivoluzione, il movimento di un paese, il suo pensiero, il monolite della tomba deserta di Thomas Sankara. Scappo dall’inferno di Ouagadougou, verso il nord, supero la tempesta e tutto diventa rarefatto. Incontro allora l’essere umano, ne sento la morte della sua storia, della sua politica, ne sfioro la calma sabbia del deserto.

Même père même mère is the subjective fresco of an African state, it’s an existential research that moves from the conjunction of cinema as movement to travel as movement and vice-versa. It follows an impulsive drive, none of the shots are built, everything is shown as a continuous flow of images, signs, random words. The editing process is nothing but a recognition and organization of the collected footage. The image is broken down according to an emotion that never aims toward aesthetics but toward the transposition of instincts. The authors of this film are enclosed in one figure, a traveler, the voice of Thomas Sankara has been reinvented, rewritten according to the uncertainty of a man, a country or history itself. This film has been realized with the participation of 760 co-produces thanks to whom the three authors were able to go film in Burkina Faso for a month and then proceed working on the film in Marseille hosted by SACRE (Studio Autonome du Cinema de Recherche).
